Hey Amanda,

I think people should have a previously established relationship with a fellow Facebooker in order to comment on their wall. Unlike direct messaging, the wall is a public forum designed for short messages. I consider the wall to be part of my Facebook profile real estate and would prefer to reserve it for friends and people I interact with.

Examples of proper commenting:

"Hey Amanda, check out this really cool site, www.awesomesite.com. It can do this and that. Its absolutely delicious!"

Improper commenting:

"Hi Amanda, my name is Yianni, an unknown person working for this unknown site. its awesome...blahblahblah (for a paragraph or two which will push down your friend's comments and taking up a chunk of valuable wall space).

I WILL DELETE ANY COMMENT LIKE THE ONE ABOVE AND PROBABLY REPORT THE PERSON WHO SENT IT.

If you have MySpace you've probably experience some wall spamming. An example of these are the horrid Macy's gifts certificate comment...I get like 5 at a time and I usually block the sender.

Keep in mind that the majority of Facebookers have a completely private or limited profile that will not allow you access to their wall unless you are friends.

Hope this helps Amanda- thanks for passing by :)
