Fuser Test: Day 2 Comments

Pros

I can see all of my gmail messages AND Facebook messages, wall post and I’m guessing all notifications in one list. You can tell the difference between email messages and Facebook messages by colored dots next to each entry. Having all my messagesin one spot is a value concept.

ConsThe user interface needs some major work. It’s too bare bones and not functional enough. I love how Facebook works and I don’t think I’m going to stop or reduce my Facebook time because if Fuser.  A desktop application that notifies me of new messages would be helpful. That is something Facebook does not have and something that would provide significant value to use Fuser. Also, the Facebook wall post on Fuser shows as not seen although I checked them on Facebook prior to login into Fuser.

Fuser Test: Day 1 Comments

picture-1.png

Fuser is a web application that allows you to aggregate your social networks and email accounts into one management destination. This sounds promising for guys like me with 7 email accounts and several active social networks. I’ve decided to test Fuser for 15 days and report a daily account of my experience. By the end of the 15 days, I’ll be able to tell you if this is worth your time.

Day 1

Activity: aggregated my main gmail account

Pros:

1. You can create OutLook style folders. This is my favorite way to organize my messages and you can’t really do that with gmail

2. Clean interface and the process of adding networks and email accounts to Fuser is super simple

What I’d like to see:

1. Color coding options. I would rather be able to see my unread emails highlighted in a color of my choice rather than have the text be bolder.

2.Drag and Drop functionality

3. Integration of Yelp into their social networks (only Facebook and MySpace)

4. Faster retrieving of email messages

Going Beyond PowerPoint Comments

It is essential for marketers to start moving away from still  PowerPoint presentation and begin using more interactive methods to tell their stories (and pitch new business). PowerPoint just doesn’t have that much bling anymore. But flare=lots of cash. Creative is expensive, especially when you get into interactive design. A friend suggested a program that claims to simplify it all and gives the not-so-techie marketer some Flash pizzazz.

Articulate Presenter allows you to convert PowerPoint presentations to Flash and add narration and interactivity with the push of a button—no programming needed. Don’t get me wrong, I love my interactive designers and programmers, but if I can put together a pitch that is sure to wow prospective clients without the added expense of outsourcing creative, how can you say no to that?

Fake it until you make it. At least until you can drop 50k to build a superstar proposal. Until then, you can get the Articulate Rapid E-Learning Studio Second Edition, which includes Articulate Presenter and other products to develop interactive content, quizzes, assessments and surveys, for $1,398. I will be creating a Facebook Cause application called “Help Yianni be Flashy this Christmas” to raised the funds to buy this program. Your tax-deductible support is greatly appreciated.

The Book of Spam Comments

Thought this video was appropriate considering my previous post (see SPAM lamb below).

I learned the story of SPAM in less than two minutes in this cute little video. Nice job SPAM.

What are some of your best bad gift ideas? What is the worst gift you’ve ever received? Let’s make it interesting… I will send a $5 Facebook Charity Gift to whoever has the worst gift idea. Post a comment with an explanation of the gift, a picture, or a link and on Christmas I’ll post the winner along with the Charity Gift chosen by the winner.
