About Me

I’ve had a digital presence for as long as I can remember. I started using the web in elementary school with AOL, chat rooms and Encarta Encyclopedia. In middle school AIM (dMoneyIzTHEman15) and cell phones took over. Google, MySpace, Napster and YouTube followed through high school. In 2004 I was one of the first people to join Facebook (thefacebook.com). Back then is was a closed network with only 8 universities. From there it grew to include all university and eventually it became and open network. Facebook dominated my digital life from that point on. In 2007 I took a deep dive into social media and launched socialmediaguy.com (originally socialmediaguy.blogspot.com) to explore my studies in social media marketing and connect with other web 2.0 enthusiast.

I graduated from Boston University in the fall of 2006 with B.S. in Communication. Since then I’ve worked as a social media marketing professional representing major brands, online start-ups and non-profit organizations. . I joined The Digital Influence Group in 2007. In 2008 I moved to New York City to work with a digital think-tank called Undercurrent. As a senior agent at UC, I was responsible for consulting brands like Pepsi, BMW, CNN, Tennis Channel and various start-ups on how to use the web to connect with people and raise awareness of their brands. Now I am a marketing specialist for GradeGuru.com, a McGraw-Hill Higher Education start-up that allows college students to share notes and learn from each other.
